9th Edition PEZ review
This is a little joke. I'll be writing a Ravnica review real soon now, and I'd like to just say a couple of things about 9th edition:
Outside of PEZ, it seems like an amazing set. All the Pain Lands being back is great (and makes drafting 999 reasonably lucrative online). There's less chaff and more wheat than ever before.
Within PEZ, I want to mention a few cards:
Gift of Estates was a rare in Portal. Now it's an uncommon, so you can play it in PEZ. It's a good card, but totally unplayable in PEZ as an uncommon. Sorry.
Cruel Edict was a common in Portal, Second Age. It's printed here as an uncommon, but that should make it more widely available. Cruel Edict was once (arguably) the second best black common removal spell (after Diabolic Edict, which is strictly better.) I think it's now eclipsed by Rend Flesh and by a new card in Ravnica, but it's worth remembering that there are two common spells that force an opponent to sacrifice a creature but don't affect you.
Zodiac Monkey is another common from Portal, this one from Three Kingdoms. It's identical to Rushwood Dryad, which is unplayed.
Cheers,
Chris

Agreed Ninth does next to nothing for PEZ as expected. Ravnica is up in the air. RW got some good commons. Blue may have some skies material (Drake Familiar {with a late Unstable Mutation}, Flight of Fancy??). Transmute is interesting, and I have not tested it but it seems a little narrow. Muddle the Mixture (better on its own than Flash Counter and I have toyed with that in PEZ-control SBs) is almost playable, Transmute is almost just a bonus there. Dizzing Spell however is useless without Transmute, and even with it it may not fit in Pro-Tides, or anywhere.
Drift of Phantoms is probably playable in Blue-black or monoblue control if it was playing some Ophidians or Tims or Hippies or something.
